The report accompanies the development of a Tractor Actros - from the first drawings of the designers, the work steps in the engine plant in Mannheim to the final assembly of the truck in Wörth.

Explosions? Check. Action? Double check. Mindless and senseless destruction of everything that moves? You betcha. Welcome to War Machine.

Upon first glance, the game seems similar to many others where you have to get from point A to point B, and indeed it is. Still, it offers some fun along the way despite being yet another side-scrolling driver. Certainly, it presents itself better, with more attention to graphics and detail.

Typically, graphics in this sort of game are vector-y drawings which, while certainly sufficient and absolutely good looking when done right, seem to be the norm. With War Machine though, we get nicely drawn, realistic graphics (well aside from the death animations that is). Alls sorts of tiny details have been animated, including the muzzle flare of your truck's gun, the enemy's attacks, the exploding barrels, and the way sheep and pigs fly into the air after you hit them.

As can be expected with all of these animations, things can get a bit chaotic. Add sounds to that, and you've got a medley of explosions, crashes, gunshots, and all sorts of other things thrown into the mix. While you'd think it would sound chaotic (and it is) it's never exactly bad, and instead you get an anarchic orchestra of destruction that blends nicely together.

Like other side scrolling drivers of this sort, you use the arrow keys to move around. Up and down will accelerate and decelerate, while left and right allow you to manage the angle of your ride allowing you to reach higher heights and preventing you from flipping over to your doom. You can also hit Enter to change direction, but for the most part you shouldn't really need to worry much about that. Your gun is controlled by the computer, so the only thing you need to take care of is moving around and smashing things.

As stated before, it's a simple game, where you have to move around taking things out. If it moves, destroy it. If it doesn't move, destroy it anyway. And there's a lot of destruction to be had, from tanks, to barrels of oil, to porta-potties. You can also take multiple paths, some of which are more profitable in terms of the amount of destruction available, so don't be afraid to explore. At the end of each level, you have a scoreboard which allows you to check just how much you destroyed and how much you missed.

All in all, War Machine certainly lives up to its name, giving you control of all sorts of madness and mayhem. While you may get tired of it in less than an hour or so, it's certainly fun enough to merit a playthrough.
